Roni Campbell has had dogs and horses throughout her life. Happily for CDTS, she saw an Agility trial nine years ago and decided on the spot that henceforth all her hobby time would be devoted to training dogs in Agility. Since then, Roni has competed and won honors in three registries (the American Kennel Club, North American Dog Agility Council and the United States Dog Agility Association) with four dogs, and three of those dogs were rescues. Her first agility dog was her daughter's mixed breed, Maxine, "a Border collie in a Beagle suit" as someone once called her. Maxie got her elite titles in NADAC, her AAD (Advanced Agility Dog) in USDAA and was High-in-Trial All-American in numerous USDAA trials. Maxie was retired early due to a benign tumor on a brachial nerve and Roni began training her next rescue, a Sheltie named Cody. Cody had gotten her Agility Dog Excellent and her Open Agility Jumpers titles when she was forced into retirement by early onset arthritis. Currently you'll find Roni working with two dogs. Her Australian shepherd Hi- Tri's Thrillseeker MX MXJ, or Thriller, has gone all the way to the Masters level in AKC Agility and is now starting a second career in Obedience. Her rescue Border collie, Star NA, is just starting her Agility career. Both dogs also attend herding clinics and love to work sheep. Roni lives with her three dogs and a cat and teaches the Thursday night beginners Agility class with Linda Tull. In her "spare" time, she is the office manager of a medical practice.
