In 1982, shortly after the birth of her first daughter, Chris Lang brought her Collie, Bert, to CDTS for obedience lessons. Bitten by the Obedience bug, Chris decided to show, and Bert won a Dog World award for scoring 195 points or above (out of a possible 200) for his first three shows and cinched a Companion Dog (CD) title. When two more daughters came along, Chris had to put dog training on the back burner until the three girls were in high school or college. But in October, 2001 she followed her husband Bill back to classes, this time with her next Collie, Celeste. Celeste, too, achieved the CD title but her most important work is winning hearts all over Buncombe County as one of the most active and loving therapy dogs with Paws with a Purpose. The next Collie to enter Chris's life was Duncan, and his athleticism has led her to a love affair with Agility. Since they started competing in 2004, Duncan has consistently been ranked within the Top Ten Collies in Agility, the team has qualified for both the USDAA Nationals and the AKC National Agility Championships, and they are just finishing up their Master Agility Excellent (MX) and Master Agility Jumpers (MXJ) titles. In between flying over jumps, Duncan, like Chris's Collies before him, got his CD title and will be going on to Open Obedience competition soon. Chris is a registered nurse, lives with her husband Bill, also a top Agility competitor, and teaches Puppy and Beginner classes.
